Get Active

[09/11/04]

AN active lifestyle is good for our health. It prevents health problems and manages medical conditions once they have been diagnosed.

Mendip District Council works with a number of partners and with Mendip Care and Repair and others it is providing physical activity classes in new venues across the district.
Why not go along and take part?

The classes are at:
_ St Douglas Court Coleford, Mondays 12-1pm
_ Frome Medical Practice, Frome Monday evenings 4.30-5.30pm
_ Outpatients Department Priory Health Park, Wells Tuesdays 10-11am
_ Bennett’s Gardens Sheltered Housing Complex, Frome Tuesdays 3.30-4.30pm
_ Park Medical Practice, Shepton Mallet, Thursday mornings 10-11am

These are suitable for a wide range of people, those who would like to be more active, or even those who don’t want to be active but know they ought to be!! The classes are taught by highly qualified instructors who have experience in GP referrals, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Falls prevention and rehabilitation.

The emphasis is on activities which are fun, and enjoyable. Medical conditions that would benefit from these classes include, diabetes, asthma, obesity, musculo-skeletal problems, lower back problems, angina, mild to moderate depression, high blood pressure and falls prevention.

All classes cost £2 per session and if you would like to know more, please contact Louise Woolway, Leisure
